About Cynthia

Cindy Jersey Bilger, pianist, virtuoso harpist and French horn player, graduated from high school as a National Merit Scholar.  She earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Music Performance at The University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, where she was a double major in French horn and harp. While attending the Aspen Music Festival, she was invited to audition for the conductor of The Juilliard Orchestra and was awarded a full scholarship to enroll and perform at The Juilliard School in New York where she earned her Master’s Degree. Cindy’s studies at Juilliard included private instruction on the horn and piano, music theory, music history, chamber music, singing, conducting, composition, performance strategies, and solfeggio.

Cindy played as a principal player for three years in The Juilliard Orchestra and toured Germany, Austria and Italy and the entire continent of South America with that ensemble, including performances at the Musikverein in Vienna and La Scala Opera House in Milan. Cindy feels extremely fortunate to have studied with many world class teachers and performers. Her teachers have served as Principal players in The Chicago Symphony, The Cleveland Orchestra, The Los Angeles Philharmonic, The New York Philharmonic, and The Metropolitan Opera.

Cindy has appeared with The Pennsylvania Ballet, The Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia, The New Jersey Symphony, Solisti New York, The Empire Brass Quintet, Broadway Musical Theater, The Joffrey Ballet, The Dallas Symphony, The Fort Worth Symphony, and The Delaware Symphony. She also performed with The Philadelphia Orchestra at the Mann Music Center.

Cindy enjoyed opportunities to experience different cultures by touring the world as a performer. She has given concerts across the United States, Canada, Mexico, Central America, South America, Europe, and Japan. Cindy performed recitals and chamber music at Lincoln Center, The National Cathedral in Washington DC, and on The Philadelphia Orchestra’s Chamber Music Series at The Kimmel Center. She toured Japan as a member of The Philadelphia Brass Ensemble, whose other members serve as Principal players in the Philadelphia Orchestra’s brass section.

Cindy’s playing was mentioned in The New York Times for a chamber music performance at Lincoln Center, where the critic wrote: “Cynthia Jersey’s  played a leading role and played it spectacularly well.”  She played in orchestras conducted by some of the world’s leading conductors, including Leonard Bernstein, Sir Georg Solti, and Charles Dutoit. Cindy can be heard on recordings with the Philadelphia Brass Ensemble, the Dallas Symphony, and Kumatone Records, where she recorded music by Meg Bowles for horn and synthesizer.
